If you are new to intimacy wellness products — lubricants, applicators, paired sets — the category can feel more complicated than it actually is. This beginner's guide walks through the basics: what each product does, how to choose, and how to build a routine that actually fits your life.
What "intimacy wellness" actually means
Intimacy wellness is the everyday-care side of sexual health: lubricants for comfort, applicators for precision, gentle stimulating products for sensation, and paired sets that combine compatible items into one routine. It is not about complexity or novelty — it is about making the basics work well.
The four product categories
1. Personal lubricants
The foundation. A good lubricant reduces friction comfortably and stays agreeable through whatever your routine asks of it. The main choice is water-based vs silicone-based — each has trade-offs in longevity, cleanup, and toy compatibility. See our complete lubricant guide for the full comparison.
2. Applicators
A small applicator makes lubricant application cleaner and more precise, particularly for internal use. Our reusable applicators come in three colorways and are designed for easy cleaning. See our applicator guide for choosing, using, and cleaning.
3. Stimulating products
Stimulating sprays and gels add sensation — gentle warmth, cool, or a subtle enhanced awareness. These are optional, not foundational. If you are curious, our ANGCURE Intimacy Stimulant Set pairs a stimulating spray with a complementary gel.
4. Paired sets
Sets combine compatible products at a lower price than buying individually. They are a good starting point if you do not yet know what your routine will look like — the curation has been done for you.
How to build a starter routine
For most people, a starter routine looks like this:
- One personal lubricant — either water-based or silicone-based, depending on your use case.
- One applicator — if your routine calls for precise application.
- Optional: one paired set — if you want a stimulating product but do not want to choose individually.
That is it. Three items is a full routine. You do not need more.
Choosing your first products
If you have never used a personal lubricant before, start with a silicone-based formula — they are forgiving, long-lasting, and easy to clean up. Our ANGCURE silicone lubricant in 4 fl oz / 120ml is a good starting bottle.
If you are using lubricant with silicone toys, choose a water-based formula instead.
Common beginner questions
Is lubricant safe for everyday use? Yes — for the vast majority of people, daily use is fine. If you experience any irritation, pause and check the ingredient list.
Do I need an applicator? Not necessarily. Applicators are useful for internal use or for cleaner application, but they are not required.
Are stimulating products necessary? No. They are an optional category, not a foundational one.
